Presidential Update - August 2026

FIBEP is still running fast while many are coming back to work after time off. We currently have WMIC'26 fully planned, and reservations are very strong. The agenda will deliver great value to those who can make it to Tokyo, Japan. This destination is ideal for our discussions around innovation, AI usage, and evolving licensing issues. I look forward to seeing you all.

Additionally, we have already locked in our Copyright Talks and Tech Day, which is evolving into Innovation Day, as well as our WMIC'27 location. By working this far ahead, we can secure ideal dates and rates for our members. A big thank you to Magdalena Horanska and Zuzana Richterova for their site visits and logistical planning.

Lastly, we are preparing a Media Rights Trust Initiative progress report for release at the beginning of September. I appreciate the group’s support for this important work. Licensing is shifting quickly as CMOs and publishers work to understand how AI impacts usage.
