MEDIA RIGHTS TRUST INITIATIVE

Building a Fair, Transparent, and Sustainable Future for Media Licensing

In today’s digital, data-driven and AI-enabled environment, media monitoring and analysis rely on the responsible and appropriately authorised use of content created by publishers and journalists. That reality makes copyright, licensing, and responsible content use more important than ever.

The Media Rights Trust Initiative is a collaborative effort launched by FIBEP to bring together

  • media monitoring organizations,

  • content owners,

  • communication professionals,

  • rights management services,

  • technology providers, and

  • industry associations.

Our mission is to develop a fair, transparent, and sustainable framework for media rights, licensing, and responsible content use across media monitoring, analysis, and AI-driven applications, by advancing practical standards, clear access frameworks, and collaboration among publishers, rights holders, media intelligence organisations, technology providers, and industry associations.

Why MRTI Exists

The media intelligence ecosystem is evolving quickly. Licensing expectations are changing. AI is reshaping how content is processed and analyzed. Commercial relationships are becoming more complex. At the same time, publishers, rights holders, monitoring organizations, and technology providers all need greater clarity, consistency, and trust.

MRTI exists to help define a workable path forward. Our purpose is not only to advance dialogue, but also to develop practical, balanced guidance that respects intellectual property, supports healthy market practices, and helps preserve the long-term sustainability of the media intelligence ecosystem.
