2024 Tech Day Throwback

''I'm thrilled to share my reflections on the FIBEP Tech Day, which was an unmitigated success. As Vice president of FIBEP in charge of the Tech Portfolio, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the excitement and engagement among attendees as they explored the latest advancements in AI and media intelligence.

The day began with Trevor Back from Speechmatics, our main sponsor, kicked off the proceedings with an insightful presentation on the untapped potential of speech-to-text technology, setting the tone for what was to come. This was followed by Neil Morrison from Signal AI, who shared his expertise on the risks and opportunities that AI presents for communications professionals.

The morning sessions continued with Philip Allin from Overtone AI discussing the evolving role of content analysis in the age of AI, and Nesin Veli from Identrics exploring how AI can be harnessed to optimize PR efforts and prevent disinformation. The Technical Advisory Commission Update, headed by Alessandro Cederle as well as Rune Kleveland  provided attendees with valuable insights into FIBEP's JSON standard and the commissions will to help our members interact with much more ease.

The afternoon sessions were just as engaging, with Raphael Quisumbin from Media:Track presenting on the concept of multi-layer intelligence, and Florian Grabner Zebedin from Observer sharing his practical experiences with AI development. Our panel discussion on broadcast monitoring, moderated by yours truly, featured insights from Alessandro Cederle, Florian Grabner Zebedin, and Thomas Netousek.

The event also included presentations from Jack Murray on navigating the media landscape with data, Stavros Vologiannidis on data fusion and augmentation in media intelligence, and Vuk Popovic on AI-driven cost optimization in media monitoring production. Each presentation was thought-provoking and sparked lively discussions among attendees.

As the day drew to a close, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. The FIBEP Tech Day had brought together some of the brightest minds in our industry, and it was clear that AI is transforming the way we work in media intelligence. As we look to the future, I'm excited to see how these innovations will shape our profession and how far FIBEP has come, that we can truly have engaging technological discussions that might simply have been unthinkable a mere decade ago.

I'd like to extend my gratitude to all attendees, speakers, and sponsors for making this event such a success. Special thanks go to Speechmatics for their main sponsorship of the event, as well as the Secretariat for all their work! We're already looking forward to next year's FIBEP Tech Day!''
